Anthony Robbins Provides One Million Meals To Families In Need

NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- World-renowned speaker, author and peak performance strategist Anthony Robbins has partnered with FEEDING AMERICA to help feed local families still in need in tri-state areas from Hurricane Sandy.  "After the camera goes away many people forget that the need to help people still exists. I hope that my personal donation of a half million meals, in addition to a matching donation of an additional half a million meals by my foundation, The Anthony Robbins Foundation, can be used to trigger others to think about ways that they can give as well," says Anthony Robbins.

The donation was made to Feeding America to assist the food banks that serve the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. Feeding America and these food banks continue to provide food and groceries to thousands of people still affected by the aftermath of the hurricane, as well as other families in need. 

Anthony Robbins' philosophy is, "It's not what we get, but who we become and what we contribute that gives meaning to my life."  He believes, "There is an unbelievable gift in life when you can step out of yourself and help someone else. The partnership with Feeding America gives people an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families in need, while making a difference in their own lives at the same time."

What began nearly 35 years ago as Robbins' individual effort to feed homeless families has now grown into the Anthony Robbins Foundation's International Basket Brigade, which feeds more than three million people in more than 56 countries every year.  Anthony Robbins Foundation has also provided support and initiated programs in more than 2,000 schools, 700 prisons and 100,000 service organizations and shelters.

"My family was flat broke and had no money for a Thanksgiving meal.   I was 11 years old when a man I'd never seen gifted my family with a huge basket of Thanksgiving goodies and an uncooked turkey in pot for us to have a real Thanksgiving," stated Robbins. "In that moment I came upon a new meaning—strangers care. Soon after, I realized that I wanted to do the same, so I created the Basket Brigade to bring hope and food to those who need it most and inspire others to help in anyway they can."
