Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Joins Stradling

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Dec. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth, P.C. ("Stradling") announced today that Jason de Bretteville, a former federal prosecutor previously with Sullivan and Cromwell, has joined Stradling as a shareholder.

Mr. de Bretteville is a complex business and securities litigator who brings extensive experience advising and representing companies, financial institutions and senior executives in major criminal and civil enforcement proceedings brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"), Department of Justice ("DOJ"), Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. In addition, he has conducted numerous foreign and domestic investigations, many of which were related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA").  Mr. de Bretteville also has represented private equity firms, technology companies, consumer goods manufacturers and other companies in a wide variety of complex business disputes and securities litigation matters.

Prior to joining Sullivan and Cromwell, Mr. de Bretteville served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Central District of California from 2001 through 2006. There, he tried several felony cases to verdict, supervised teams of federal agents engaged in the detection and prevention of terrorist activity and briefed and argued numerous cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to joining the U.S. attorney's office, he served as counsel on the Rampart Independent Review Panel that was responsible for reviewing policies, tactics and disciplinary procedures of the Los Angeles Police Department.

"We are thrilled that Jason is joining the firm. His background as a prosecutor combined with his talent as a business trial lawyer adds depth and expertise to our growing Investigations, Enforcement and White Collar Criminal Defense practices," says John Cannon, Stradling board member and Litigation Department Chair.

As one of California's leading business law firms with more than 100 attorneys practicing in 6 offices including Newport Beach, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Santa Monica, Stradling's litigation department is engaged in a full spectrum of matters related to the defense of companies and executives subject to complex commercial litigation, securities litigation and intellectual property litigation. The department's clients include emerging and high-growth public and private companies as well as private equity funds and venture capital groups. The firm has been widely recognized for its expertise, responsiveness and outstanding client service. Stradling's size, structure, and culture allow it to provide the highest quality representation while maintaining the responsiveness and relationships commonly associated with smaller firms.
