Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Opens Office In Beijing
PALO ALTO, Calif. and BEIJING, Dec. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, today announced that it has opened an office in Beijing to further enhance its China practice. The new office is the third in Greater China for the firm, which already has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
"Besides being the regulatory center in China, Beijing is a hub for technology companies and growth enterprises as well as capital markets, private equity, venture capital, and cross-border M&A activities," said Jack Sheridan, co-managing partner. "That confluence makes it a natural fit for the firm and critical to serving the diverse needs of our clients in the region."
"We have been fortunate in building an exceptional team of bilingual attorneys across the three key locations in China's legal market," said Weiheng Chen, leader of the firm's China practice. "The Beijing office will be headed by my partner Kefei Li, who has long and deep capital markets experience, including representing clients in many U.S. and Hong Kong IPOs by Chinese companies. In addition to corporate attorneys with broad expertise in M&A, private equity, and capital markets, the Beijing-based team includes a number of experienced intellectual property and licensing attorneys to assist clients in the technology and life sciences sectors."Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati's Greater China team represents clients in a variety of cross-border matters, including those related to mergers and acquisitions, private equity, going-private transactions, joint ventures, foreign investments, branch operations, spin-offs, capital markets offerings, and intellectual property counseling. The firm's China practice focuses on quality growth enterprises and equity investors in Greater China and elsewhere in Asia. It handles corporate and securities work for a number of notable U.S.-listed public companies based or operating in China, and has extensive experience advising many private equity clients on their investment matters in Greater China and representing Chinese companies on international public offerings. In addition, members of the China practice frequently team with the firm's U.S.-based technology transactions and litigation practices to represent Chinese clients in various IP and litigation matters. The firm opened its Shanghai office in 2007 and an office in Hong Kong in 2010, which recently has become associated with Chen & Associates, a firm of local solicitors practicing Hong Kong law.
