Responding to the need for a nursing education model that addresses the challenges of a complex healthcare system, two industry leaders establish the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) and Chamberlain College of Nursing Center for Excellence in Nursing Education. The STTI/Chamberlain Center will focus on advancing global excellence in nursing education and preparing the highly skilled nurses of the future to elevate the level of patient care in an increasingly diversified population.
“Successful patient care delivery is dependent upon continuous investment in the faculty who educate nurses,” said Patricia E. Thompson, RN, EdD, FAAN, chief executive officer of Sigma Theta Tau International. “The members of Chamberlain’s Phi Pi chapter of STTI are a diverse group who provides leadership in healthcare to their communities and throughout the country. Now, coming together to form this center of excellence, STTI and Chamberlain demonstrate continued commitment to elevating nursing education.”
The STTI/Chamberlain Center will provide career and leadership development for nurse educators; create resources and events related to excellence in nursing education; implement an Emerging Educational Administrator Program; and develop programs to promote nursing education globally. A volunteer advisory board of 10 nurse leaders will provide guidance on the center’s programs.
“Chamberlain and Sigma Theta Tau International share a commitment to ensuring that nurses and nurse educators have access to resources that prepare them to improve healthcare,” said Susan Groenwald, PhD(c), MSN, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. “We look forward to working together with STTI in this transformative time in our industry to focus on faculty and academic leadership development to advance excellence in nursing education globally.”For more information about the Sigma Theta Tau International and Chamberlain College of Nursing Center for Excellence in Nursing Education, visit chamberlain.edu/stti.
