ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hurricane Sandy disrupted business travel to Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Atlantic City Alliance--in collaboration with the Atlantic City Visitors Authority-- today announce a $1 million program to attract groups and meetings in 2013. The funding comes from the private sector—namely the 12 casino resort properties. The $1 million incentive program is part of the popular "Do Anything, Do Everything, Do AC" campaign.
Here are the details:
- This program is for new group or meeting business that must meet in Atlantic City in 2013.
- The business must generate at least 1,000 room nights at an Atlantic City casino hotel.
- Priority is given to midweek, non-summer and first-time business.
- Meetings or groups may use facilities at the convention center, Historic Boardwalk Hall or at the 12 AC casino meeting spaces with priority to groups at the convention facilities.

Due to the hurricane's storm track, Atlantic City suffered minimal damage and reopened for business after five days. Atlantic City saw cancellations in the meetings, convention and group markets due to the storm. Most events have rescheduled for 2013. The livelihoods of the more than 40,000 employees in the 12 casino properties, plus those hospitality industry workers at businesses catering to the tourism industry, depend on a strong visitor base. Vendors in all 21 NJ counties which support the casino industry are also impacted.
