NORTHBROOK, Ill., Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Gregory J. Guidos has been named president of Allstate Benefits and will replace current president David Bird upon his retirement in March 2013. Guidos will report to Don Civgin, president and chief executive officer of Allstate Financial.

"Allstate Benefits has become one of America's largest providers of voluntary employee benefits and one of Allstate Financial's fastest-growing businesses," Civgin said. "Greg's leadership and experience can help accelerate our momentum in offering health, life, disability, vision and dental benefits to individuals, both directly and through their employers. We wish David well in retirement and thank him for his numerous contributions to Allstate Benefits' success."

Greg Guidos has been Allstate Benefits executive vice president and chief administrative officer since 2010, and the division's chief financial officer from 2002 to 2007. He has held a variety of leadership positions with Allstate since joining the company in 1982, including as product vice president for Allstate's Western Territory from 2008-2010 and assistant field vice president, Capital Region from 2007-2008.

David Bird was named president of Allstate Benefits in 2002. Under his direction, Allstate Benefits has become one of the largest providers of voluntary employee benefits in the United States. Bird began his career with American Heritage Life Insurance Company in 1983 as a regional sales manager for Tennessee, and was promoted in 1987 to regional director for Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas. Bird became senior vice president of workplace sales in 1994 and chief marketing officer in 1997. American Heritage Life was acquired by The Allstate Corporation in 1999. Allstate Benefits ( www.allstatebenefits.com) is now the company's marketing name.

The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) is the nation's largest publicly held personal lines insurer, serving approximately 16 million households through its Allstate, Encompass, Esurance and Answer Financial brand names and Allstate Financial business segment. Allstate branded insurance products (auto, home, life and retirement) and services are offered through Allstate agencies, independent agencies, and Allstate exclusive financial representatives, as well as via www.allstate.com, www.myallstatefinancial.com and 1-800 Allstate ®, and are widely known through the slogan "You're In Good Hands With Allstate ®."
