: Avnet and Amphenol celebrate 55-year anniversary:
In 1957, Avnet became an authorized factory jobber and assembler for the Bendix line of military connectors. Today, Avnet and Amphenol collaborate to bring one of the largest selections of interconnect products to a diverse range of customers worldwide for use in military, commercial aerospace, industrial, communications and information technology market applications.
“Our partnership enables us to capture opportunities to bring our mutual customers a wealth of technological innovation and solutions expertise that is not commonly available today through a single supplier and one channel partner,” said Ed Smith, president, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “As our journey continues, I have every confidence that our partnership will only get stronger and create even greater value for our customers.”
“During the 55 years of our partnership, Amphenol and Avnet have emerged as leaders in our respective industries by helping our customers create new electronics that have literally transformed the world,” said Adam Norwitt, president and chief executive officer, Amphenol. “We look forward to continuing to work together to drive the further acceleration of the electronics revolution.”
Designed to enable greater mobility, support higher bandwidth, minimize power consumption and optimize functionality in harsh environments, leading edge interconnect technologies from Amphenol have played a critical role in the growth of new electronics technologies and market applications for 80 years. For example, Amphenol’s 25 Gb/s XCede connector family was the first backplane connector to enable the levels of speed required to ignite the mobile internet revolution, while decades of expertise in harsh environment interconnects have paved the way for the development of safer military troop transport vehicles like the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV). Among Amphenol’s most recent innovations is the new 8 AWG photovoltaic (PV) connector, the first such device rated by UL for use up to 1000V. Designed for use in large-scale utility and commercial PV installations, the H4 8 AWG connectors offer the highest current ratings and lowest contact resistance available, resulting in lower power losses and improved reliability.
