Rite Aid Reduces Flu Shots To $24.99 Through December 15 In Support Of National Influenza Vaccination Week

Stock quotes in this article: RAD

As flu activity increases across the country, Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) is encouraging Americans to get vaccinated against the flu during National Influenza Vaccination Week, which runs December 2-8. In support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) annual effort, from now through December 15, flu shots will be available from Rite Aid certified immunizing pharmacists at all Rite Aid pharmacies at a reduced price of only $24.99*, subject to state regulations. Flu shots are covered by many insurance plans, including Medicare Part B.

“The CDC is reporting an increase in flu activity in parts of the country and expects to see more activity during the winter months, which is when flu season typically peaks,” said Robert Thompson, Rite Aid Executive Vice President of Pharmacy. “National Influenza Vaccination Week is the perfect time for us to remind anyone who hasn’t done so already that it isn’t too late to visit their local Rite Aid for their flu shot. By getting vaccinated now, they’ll be protecting themselves and those around them throughout this year’s flu season.”

Created by the CDC in 2005, National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) is a national observance that was established to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination, as well as fostering greater use of flu vaccine after the holiday season into January and beyond.

The CDC recommends that everyone six months and older get a flu shot as the first and most important step in preventing the flu. Flu season in the United States can begin as early as October and can continue through mid-May, with the highest concentration of cases occurring between December and April. Flu symptoms include headache, body aches, fever, fatigue, sore throat and dry cough. Additional information about the upcoming flu season can be found at www.cdc.gov.

Anyone who gets a flu shot at Rite Aid will receive a free coupon booklet that offers over $100 in savings on products available at Rite Aid, while supplies last*. Members of Rite Aid’s free customer loyalty program, wellness+, will earn 25 points when they get their flu shot (prescriptions paid for in whole or in part by state or federal healthcare programs such as Medicare or Medicaid and prescriptions filled in New York and New Jersey are not eligible by law for accrual of points).

Rite Aid pharmacists are also able to administer vaccinations for 12 other diseases, such as pertussis (whooping cough), shingles and pneumonia, subject to state regulations. To learn more about Rite Aid’s year-round immunization program, visit www.riteaid.com.
