Facebook Guy Didn't Win the Powerball
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- A person on Facebook (FB) who claims to have won part of the $587 million Powerball jackpot appears to be faking the whole thing.
Self-proclaimed winner Nolan Daniels has posted a picture of what appears to be himself holding up a Powerball ticket with the winning numbers 5-23-16-22-29-Powerball 6.
Reports have said the winning ticket was a $10 "Quick Pick," but Daniels' ticket shows that it was a $2 pick.
"Looks like I won't be going to work EVER!!!! Share this photo and I will give a random person 1 million dollars!" Daniels wrote in a caption attached to the photo, which had more than 300,000 shares on the social networking site.
Another catch is that the numbers aren't listed in the typical ascending order. The numbers are listed as 22-29-23-16-5-Powerball 6. Daniels, responding to queries as to whether his offer was serious, reiterated his claim in the comments section of the photograph. "Yes, I've announced on Facebook but remaining anonymous through my attorney. Spent most of the morning with him. I was in Fountain Hills visiting a client when I bought ticket. I'm sure it will get out eventually to media since I did this here though," Daniels wrote. Powerball's Web site listed Cindy and Mark Hill of Missouri as one winner of the jackpot. The site said there were two winning tickets in all, with the second one "pending," though it was purchased in Arizona, where a town called Fountain Hills is located. Daniels had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication. Powerball did not immediately return a phone call about the photo. -- Written by Joe Deaux in New York. >Contact by Email. Follow @JoeDeauxSelect the service that is right for you!
