NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Kroger (NYSE:KR) hit a new 52-week high Thursday as it is currently trading at $25.86, above its previous 52-week high of $25.44 with 2.3 million shares traded as of 10:05 a.m. ET. Average volume has been 5.8 million shares over the past 30 days.

Kroger has a market cap of $13.12 billion and is part of the services sector and retail industry. Shares are up 2.6% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday.

The Kroger Co., together with its subsidiaries, operates as a retailer in the United States. The company also manufactures and processes food for sale in its supermarkets. The company has a P/E ratio of 22, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
