AVG Technologies N.V. (NYSE: AVG), the provider of Internet and mobile security to 143 million active users, today announced the appointment of Judith Bitterli as Senior Vice President of Marketing, reporting to John Giamatteo, Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. Bitterli will oversee the company’s global marketing and communications operations.
“With her background in marketing strategy, brand building and customer insights, we are delighted to welcome Judith to the AVG team. She is joining us at a time when AVG is expanding its portfolio beyond traditional antivirus into new products such as mobile and building out business opportunity after our successful IPO earlier this year,” said JR Smith, AVG’s CEO. “Judith’s track record of successfully building and leading world-class marketing operations and global teams will also be key to growing our business in new markets.”
With more than 25 years of executive level experience in sales, marketing and business operations, Bitterli joins AVG from RealNetworks where she was Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President. Her responsibilities will include business intelligence, PR and social media, branding strategy and implementation as well as establishing a voice of the customer.
“Speaking as a marketing person, having the opportunity to work for a rapidly growing brand such as AVG presents a rewarding challenge. This is a business that has come far in recent months and years and which has laid out ambitious goals that span new audiences, products and geographies,” said Bitterli. “AVG’s brand positioning will be central to this undertaking and I am looking forward to being a part of that journey.”
