Walmart Customers Save More Than 25% On Thanksgiving Meals

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) recently reported that Americans will pay $49.48 to feed 10 people this Thanksgiving – up from $49.20 last year.  Shoppers at Walmart will save more than 25 percent for the same Thanksgiving meal, spending $36.72 nationally.

"Our customers rely on Walmart to help them stretch their paycheck, especially when it comes to feeding their families during the holidays," said Jack Sinclair, executive vice president of grocery, Walmart. "As the country's largest grocer, we have an opportunity to leverage our size and scale to deliver everyday low prices on the Thanksgiving items our customers want for their families."

"We aren't in the business of high-low pricing or gimmicks like pre-qualifiers and loyalty cards. Our goal is to provide customers with low prices on everything, every day. The holiday season is no exception."

"To give our customers added confidence that they will get the lowest price, our ad match guarantee will continue to be in effect throughout the 2012 holiday season – and will include all of our customers' Thanksgiving fixings and holiday entertaining needs at low prices – helping families to save money this holiday season," Sinclair added.

Note:  A total of 155 volunteer shoppers from 35 states participated in Farm Bureau's informal survey this year.  The products Walmart used in this analysis are identical to items included in the AFBF report.  Shoppers can find out more information about Walmart's weekly holiday meal savings by clicking on the "My Local Walmart" application on Walmart's Facebook page.
