Mexico Ministry Of Tourism Presents Country's Successful Tourism Model At Duke University

MEXICO CITY, Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mexico Secretary of Tourism Gloria Guevara Manzo yesterday presented the country's successful tourism model to an audience of faculty and students of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in North Carolina.

During the Latin American Business Symposium 2012, hosted by the Latin American Student Association, Secretary Guevara outlined the global challenges facing the tourism industry in 2009, such as the H1N1 influenza and the economic and financial crisis.

Despite these challenges, the work of Mexico's federal government led to record-breaking achievements in the tourism industry.  For example, last year more than 191 million domestic and foreign visitors traveled in Mexico, a historic figure, and this year the number is expected to exceed 200 million.

Speakers at the event included Russ Morgan, Dean of the Business School; James Hogan, President of Medtronic Latin America; Timothy Marx, Principal of BCG Mexico; Rodolfo Martinez, Vice President of Production, ESPN International, ESPN Deportes; and Liliana Ayalde, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the United States State Department with responsibility for the Offices of Caribbean Affairs, Central American Affairs and Cuban Affairs.

Secretary Guevara met yesterday with Russ Morgan, Dean of the Fuqua School of Business of Duke University.

Duke University, located in North Carolina, was founded in 1883 and is ranked 8th in the United States.  The Fuqua School of Business has established itself as one of the best in the United States despite being recently established; the school has an enrollment of 13,000 students and a staff of world-renowned professors.
