Xyratex To Provide Federal Government Site With Unparalleled High Performance Computing Storage

HAVANT, United Kingdom, Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Xyratex Ltd (Nasdaq: XRTX), a leading provider of data storage technology, today announced that it is working with HP (NYSE: HPQ) to install its ClusterStor™ High Performance Computing (HPC) data storage solution at a U.S. federal government site.

ClusterStor delivers a new standard in file system performance, scalability and efficiency. Its unique architecture brings together what were previously discrete server, network and storage platforms with their own separate software layers, into a single integrated modular scale out storage building block. This innovative approach enables the system to scale both performance and capacity while aggressively reducing space, power and administrative overhead.

The ClusterStor Scalable Storage Unit (SSU) is the easy-to-use building block that enables rapid deployment, scale and productivity.  The SSU is only five rack units high and delivers up to six gigabytes/sec of sustained read and write file system performance. ClusterStor offers support for installations with unprecedented linear performance scalability from 6GB/s to 1TB/s file system processing capability, as well as linear data storage capacity from terabytes to tens of petabytes.
