As of noon trading, Caterpillar (CAT) is down $0.96 (-1.1%) to $84.06 on light volume Thus far, 2.5 million shares of Caterpillar exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 7.3 million shares. The stock has ranged in price between $83.76-$85.24 after having opened the day at $85.02 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $85.02.

Caterpillar Inc. manufactures and sells construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives worldwide. Caterpillar has a market cap of $57.6 billion and is part of the conglomerates industry. The company has a P/E ratio of 9.0, below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
