Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas To Distribute Sensor Solutions From Measurement Specialties, Inc.

Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced it has inked a distribution agreement with Measurement Specialties, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEAS), a leader in the design and manufacture of sensors and sensor-based systems marketed under the MEAS brand. The agreement provides Avnet's customers in the industrial, medical, defense/aerospace, test and measurement and transportation markets with a broad portfolio of packaged sensors.

“Appointing Avnet as a new distributor is an integral part of our long-term global channel management strategy for enabling new customers improved access to our broad offering of sensor solutions,” explained Glen MacGibbon, executive vice president, Measurement Specialties, Inc. “With their emphasis on strong technical support and global support services, Avnet is well positioned to support the growth of our new class of plug and play sensors that enable system designers to produce smarter, more cost-effective and energy efficient systems.”

“The addition of Measurement Specialties to our Americas offering allows Avnet to broaden our support for our customers who require both embedded and off-the-board sensor solutions for critical monitoring, feedback and control input capability,” said Alex Iuorio, senior vice president, supplier development, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “By providing such an extensive array of low-cost, low-power and plug and play sensor solutions, MEAS reduces the complexity of our customers’ engineering development efforts and accelerates their time to market.”

Measurement Specialties sensors are designed to provide precise measurement of physical characteristics such as pressure/force, position, vibration, temperature, humidity and fluid properties. Among the advanced technologies comprised in MEAS sensors are: piezoresistive applications, application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), and piezopolymers.
