Advertisement Goes Viral in Quest to Influence Traditionally Democratic AudienceDETROIT,
Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In a population that traditionally votes Democratic, a growing number of Michigan Jews are taking an unprecedented stand by supporting Republican Presidential nominee
Mitt Romney for the 2012 election. The political action committee Michigan Jewish Citizens for a Stronger America made a bold statement with a three-page ad placed in the Detroit Jewish News last week that lists the names of 800 members of the Metro Detroit Jewish community who have publicly declared their support for Romney. The impressive momentum continues to build with that first 800 supporters being garnered in a nine-day period, and has grown to 1,300 names, filling a four page ad, seven days later. Less than a week from
election day, the group continues to receive dozens of names daily both locally and from other "Jews for Romney" from across the country.
"We are seeing a groundswell of support among the Jewish community," said
Janice Stoneman founder of Michigan Jewish Citizens for a Stronger America. "Our second ad shows that our list of supporters grew by 62.5 percent in just one week. Many of these individuals voted for Obama in the last election."
The political action committee, which began as a grass roots effort on
October 13 also ran the ad in Jewish News publications in
Pennsylvania ---potentially key battleground states in the election.
The ad which reads "We Are Michigan Jews, Four Years Ago Many of Us Voted for Barrack Obama, Today, We Are Voting for
Mitt Romney," is also going viral appearing on twitter and in blogs across the country.
"Jewish voters are typically a mainstay of support for the Democratic camp," said Stoneman. "This fever pitch is an outcry to the Obama Administration's failure at handling the economy and for its anti-
Israel policies. We need new solutions to move our country forward."
According to Stoneman, Romney will tackle the fiscal crisis, promote free enterprise to create jobs and fortify America's relationship to
