Time Warner Cable To Give $600,000 To Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) today announced donations to three local relief efforts in the area affected by Hurricane Sandy. Time Warner Cable will donate $500,000 to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, and $50,000 each to The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York, which serves the Mid-Hudson Valley and The American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey. The donations will be made today.

Time Warner Cable Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Glenn Britt said, “Time Warner Cable is a proud member of the communities we serve, and donating to those communities in times of great need is important to all 51,000 Time Warner Cable employees around the country. I’m proud of the work my colleagues have been doing, both in preparation for, and in relief of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. These donations are one way for us to say that we are here, we’re committed to New York and New Jersey, and we’re working hard to rebuild our communities together.”

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, “To help support our relief efforts, our Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York is collecting donations from all around the country and right here at home. We are grateful for the support we’ve received from generous individuals and corporate citizens, like Time Warner Cable, who are pitching in to help our City recover from this devastating storm.”

American Red Cross Regional CEO, Gary Striar said, “The American Red Cross is grateful to Time Warner Cable for their generous support of the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. It is only because of our generous donors that we are able to provide shelter, food and comfort to thousands who are in need.”

Regional Vice President for New York City Operations John Quigley said, “Our crews are on the ground, working 24 hours a day to make any and all necessary repairs. They have seen the devastation first hand and it has only strengthened their commitment to ensure that our customers, and their friends and neighbors, can rebuild their communities even stronger than they were before this devastating storm. Our network has weathered the storm relatively well, and we are currently moving in behind Con Edison crews as they restore power to neighborhoods. We know that our customers are anxious to have a little bit of normalcy in their otherwise upside down lives, and the Time Warner Cable team in New York City, the Hudson Valley and Bergen County is steadfastly resolved to making that happen as quickly and safely as possible.”
