USA TODAY Sports Media Group announced today that
Patrick Scanlon has been named general manager of
USA TODAY High School Sports, effective immediately.
Scanlon most recently served as director (VP) of digital strategy & business development for
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette with responsibility for locating, assessing and creating new revenue opportunities for the organization, as well as overseeing the company's evolution from a print-centric culture to one rooted in digital. Prior to that, he was director of Interactive Media. During his tenure as director at the
Post-Gazette, Scanlon became a member of the Board of Directors.

USA TODAY High School Sports brand," said

Post-Gazette, Scanlon was the executive publisher of the Americast Media Network from 2006-2009, where he oversaw the development of a system to convert analog-based newspaper articles into Internet and mobile-ready audio and effectively contracted 84 newspaper titles in 23 states. Scanlon also held multiple roles at SmallTownPapers Inc. from 2003-2006, ranging from early stage business consultation and IT project management to vice president, corporate business development. Scanlon was an award-winning commercial photographer prior to embarking on a business and technology-oriented career path.
