COLUMBUS, Ga., Oct. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the number one provider of supplemental insurance in the United States, announced today that Paul S. Amos II is ranked number six on ExecRanks Top COO rankings for 2012.

According to ExecRank, the rankings are derived from two years of research and feedback from evaluation committees and top COOs that yielded an algorithm for how to rank COOs based on their performance in 24 key areas, including experience in the role, business success during tenure, significant professional achievements and industry/professional reputation. The number one area of focus for COOs in 2012 was their ability to execute on operational efficiencies that improve profit margins and return on equity.

"We are pleased that Paul is being recognized as one of the top chief operating officers in America," said Kriss Cloninger President and Chief Financial Officer of Aflac Incorporated. "Paul's hard work, sound business acumen and strong stewardship of Aflac's U.S. operations are a driving force in Aflac's maintaining its position as the number one provider of supplemental insurance in America."

"We were extremely impressed with the achievements of Paul Amos," Ian MacDonald, analyst for the COO Rankings division of ExecRank said. "His work and reputation are highly regarded in the industry and amongst other COOs."
