Throughout the day, 1.5 million shares of Tempur-Pedic International exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 1.8 million shares. The stock ranged in a price between $32.65-$33.62 after having opened the day at $32.74 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $32.71. Other companies within the Consumer Durables industry that increased today were: SGOCO Group (SGOC), up 16.1%, Furniture Brands International (FBN), up 10.9%, Global-Tech Advanced Innovations (GAI), up 6.5%, and Leapfrog (LF), up 6.2%.

Tempur-Pedic International Inc. engages in the manufacture, marketing, and distribution of bedding products in North America and internationally. It offers mattresses, pillows, and adjustable bed bases, as well as various cushions and other comfort products. Tempur-Pedic International has a market cap of $1.95 billion and is part of the consumer goods sector. The company has a P/E ratio of 10.8, equal to the average consumer durables industry P/E ratio and below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are down 37.7% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday. Currently there are four analysts that rate Tempur-Pedic International a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and nine rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Tempur-Pedic International as a hold. Among the primary strengths of the company is its expanding profit margins over time. At the same time, however, we also find weaknesses including unimpressive growth in net income, weak operating cash flow and a generally disappointing performance in the stock itself.
