The tech giant will reportedly announce a 13-inch MacBook Pro at its rumored iPad Mini launch event on Oct. 23. Apple has not confirmed the existence of the iPad Mini or even sent out invites for the event, but is expected to do so early this week.
In June, Apple announced a new 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display at its Worldwide Developers' Conference, and this new computer is expected to receive the same treatment.
Apple blog 9to5Mac notes that the 15-inch MacBook Pro had a codename of D2, and the 13-inch version is codenamed D1.This year has been one of the busiest product launch years in recent memory for Apple. In March, Apple refreshed its iPad line, announcing the third version of its popular tablet. June saw the announcement of the new MacBook Pro, in addition to a new mobile operating system, iOS 6, and Passbook, which some believe is Apple's foray into the mobile wallet space. There was also a refresh of the MacBook Air at the June conference, though most of the attention was focused on the MacBook Pro. The Digital Wallet's Future Is Now September saw the announcement of the iPhone 5, which sold over 5 million units in its debut weekend. Apple is scheduled to report its fourth-quarter earnings Oct. 25, with Wall Street expecting healthy iPhone sales. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect Apple to generate $8.89 per share in earnings on $36.3 billion in revenue. Should Apple launch a new MacBook Pro along with the iPad Mini, it deviates a little from Apple's tradition of giving products their own presentation. Traditionally, the iPad has been introduced by itself, alongside some ancillary products, as has the iPhone. It looks like we'll all find out if Apple has any other surprises in store for us, come Oct. 23. Shares of Apple are higher in early Monday trade, up 0.46% to $632.61. Interested in more on Apple?
