XL Group Promotes Matt O'Malley To Head Environmental Underwriting Operations

EXTON, Pa., Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Matthew V. O'Malley, CPCU, ARe, CRIS is stepping up into a new role as Head of Environmental Underwriting Operations in XL Group plc's (NYSE : XL) insurance operations, promoted from his recent role as Senior Vice President of Planning & Administration. 

In his new position, Mr. O'Malley expands his management responsibilities to include the Environmental Casualty business and North American Field Operations, as well as its Sales and Marketing team.  He reports to Gary Kaplan, President of XL Group's North America Environmental and Construction businesses.

During his 17-year tenure in the insurance industry, Mr. O'Malley has held numerous underwriting and management positions. In addition to his Planning and Administration role, he also managed the Environmental group's Commercial Business Unit (CBU). Mr. O'Malley earned his BA in Economics and MBA with a specialization in Finance from Villanova University. He currently holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations.  He also serves as a member of the Board of Overseers of the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania.
