Pepco Holdings, Inc., today announced the launch of “Green Button,” a new tool that gives customers access to data about their energy use with a simple click of an online green button. Inspired by a White House call to action, “Green Button” is an industry-led effort that allows electricity customers to download their household or building energy-use data in a consumer- and computer-friendly format.
“We are proud to partner with the White House in supporting the Green Button initiative,” said Joseph M. Rigby, chairman, president, and CEO of Pepco Holdings. “PHI responded to the challenge to join the administration and other utilities to jumpstart innovation and create new opportunities for our customers to make informed energy decisions with this customer-friendly application.”
PHI customers are among the first in the nation to be able to download their energy usage data in a simple-to-read format for energy evaluation.
For PHI customers, access to the green button requires a digital smart meter connected to the “My Account” section of the web portal. From the “My Account” section, customers can click on the green button icon to download up to 13 months of hourly electric usage data. “My Account” provides customers with detailed information on how much electricity they use and when they use it. By providing consumers with secure, easy-to-understand information about how they are using energy in their homes, Green Button can help customers manage their energy usage.
