Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), the global leader in open standards-based unified communications, today announced that TIM Intelig, a leading provider of telecommunications and IP services in Brazil and a member of the Polycom Partner Network, is launching a new Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) offering unique to the Brazilian market, built on and powered by the carrier-grade video infrastructure of the Polycom® RealPresence® Platform.
A cornerstone of the Brazilian telecom giant’s new TIM Intelligence corporate solutions campaign, and the latest in a series of TIM Intelligence launches scheduled throughout 2012, TIM Intelig’s new VaaS offering addresses a growing demand among Brazil’s businesses to accelerate business processes, improve productivity, and reduce costs. The new service lets employees in companies throughout Brazil collaborate face-to-face from any standards-based device or video conferencing system.
Brazil’s First Turnkey Video Collaboration Service
In a first for the Brazilian market, TIM Intelig will provide turnkey video collaboration solutions to businesses of all sizes. The new offerings will include the installation and use of Polycom® RealPresence® Room, Desktop or Mobile video systems, with TIM Intelig handling call management, provisioning, recording, streaming and other services. This eliminates long-term capital investments in equipment for customers, as well as the hassle of managing multiple vendors.“The motto of TIM Intelligence is ‘Intelligent Connection,’ and this new Polycom-powered VaaS offering exemplifies that concept,” said Rafael Marquez, marketing director at TIM Intelig. “With this new service, we save companies time and money by centralizing assistance and infrastructure management, and providing a single point of contact for support and maintenance. Now, when executives and employees at Brazil’s corporations need a scalable, cost-effective VaaS collaboration platform that increases productivity and drives down costs, they can find it here.” “TIM Intelig is building the country’s first Video-as-a-Service around the Polycom RealPresence Platform, and in the process is challenging the assumption that video collaboration in Brazil is a privilege to be enjoyed by only the largest companies,” said Paulo Roberto Ferreira, Regional Director of Polycom’s Brazilian office. “By moving from a traditional capital expense model to a pay-as-you-go VaaS model, TIM Intelig eliminates up-front investments in equipment and removes a significant barrier to entry so more customers can experience the benefits of secure, HD video collaboration.”
