SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 1, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFOP), an innovative supplier of fiber optic components, subsystems and integrated modules for the optical network equipment market, today announced its preliminary sales for the quarter ending September 30, 2012. These results are subject to change as a result of final management review and closing adjustments for the quarter ending on September 30, 2012.
For the 3
rd quarter of 2012, the Company expects to report sales above $12.3 million. The Company's higher than anticipated sales in the third quarter of 2012 primarily reflects stronger than expected bookings from key customers and continuous business progress achieved from the first half of YR2012. Thanks to operational improvements and favorable product mix, the Company expects 3
rd quarter gross margin to improve to the 35% level and quarterly profits to increase as well.
