FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Sept. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan Technical Center North America will give the keys of a Nissan Titan truck to The Greening of Detroit at its annual fall tree planting kick-off event on Sept. 22 in Detroit. The Greening of Detroit, an environment-focused not-for-profit, works to create a greener Detroit through planting and educational programs, environmental leadership and advocacy.
"We rely heavily on trucks to move equipment, supplies and materials throughout the City of Detroit in our efforts to promote urban agriculture practices and activities," said Rebecca Salminen Witt, president, Greening of Detroit. "The donated Titan will significantly help us with our initiatives citywide, and all of us here are very appreciative of Nissan's support."The donated Nissan Titan will be used to support the organization's tree planting initiatives that have resulted in delivering more than 70,000 new trees to parks, schoolyards, along neighborhood streets and major thoroughfares across the City of Detroit since 1989. The presentation of the Nissan Titan will be made at 9:00 a.m. at the triangle-shaped lot at Braile and Patton streets, near 7250 Braile Street, Detroit, MI 48288.
