ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) is an industry leader in providing highly engineered products and services to customers in growing end markets including transportation. This week, the company is showcasing its capabilities at InnoTrans, an international showcase focusing on railway technology that draws exhibitors from more than 40 countries and more than 100,000 visitors.
“As a global diversified industrial company, ITT is focused on the transportation industry and has a broad portfolio of leading products, technologies and solutions that are essential to modern railway systems,” said Luca Savi, president of ITT’s Motion Technologies business. “Our portfolio, along with our strong brand equity and global reach, position us well to serve customers in this key industry.”
ITT designs and manufactures highly engineered technologies for the rail industry, ranging from the newest suspension systems, hydraulic dampers and shock absorbers, to a variety of vibration isolation products and seating controls, to connectors that are used in applications such as engine diagnostics, brake controls, environmental conditioning, passenger display systems, networking and lighting controls.
At InnoTrans, ITT will highlight its new KONI 05/06 damper series, which offers enhanced stiffness and reduced weight, as well as ITT’s patented Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) valves as an optional feature. The innovative FSD technology helps provide appropriate damping forces across a range of speed and input frequencies, helping manufacturers reduce equipment wear while improving safety and passenger comfort.
ITT will also feature an array of connectors including a new lightweight rectangular connector that has various applications in rail cabins. The new VEAM Rectangular Plastic Connector (VPRC) is engineered using advanced materials and techniques coupled with ITT’s 30 years of proven interconnect design experience.
“ITT products, which include leading brands such as KONI, Cannon and VEAM, help our rail customers optimize performance while enhancing safety and passenger comfort,” said Anh Phan, vice president of marketing for ITT’s Interconnect Solutions business. “As the rail industry continues to grow in conjunction with increasing awareness of the environmental benefits of rail transport and steady growth in freight transport due to increasing global trade, ITT will have additional opportunities to enhance its position in this market.”
