Health Net Federal Services Sponsors 9th Annual Navy 5 Miler And Inaugural Navy-Air Force Half Marathon
Health Net Federal Services, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), today announced its sponsorship of the 9th Annual Navy 5 Miler and the inaugural Navy-Air Force Half Marathon which are scheduled to be held on Sept. 16, 2012, at 7:30 a.m. The races, which are open to military and civilian runners, will start and finish at the grounds of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.
“Health Net Federal Services is honored to support the Navy 5 Miler and the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon, which align with our mission to promote the overall health and well-being of those who serve and their families,” said Tom Carrato, president, Health Net Federal Services.
To raise awareness for breast cancer screenings among military and family members, Health Net Federal Services developed a unique camouflage pink pin that will be distributed at the vendor fair on Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Club. The special pin symbolizes the united front in the fight against breast cancer for military members and their families. Runners are encouraged to stop by and pick up their free pin to wear on race day.
All proceeds of the Navy 5 Miler and the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon will support the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), following the merge of the Navy’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation with the Air Force’s Services Division on Anacostia Naval Annex and Bolling Air Force Base. The mission of the MWR is to provide quality support and recreational services that contribute to the retention, readiness, mental, physical and emotional well-being of active duty personnel and Department of Defense employees.
