Obama, Romney Take Down Negative Ads on 9/11: Hot Trends

Stock quotes in this article: AAPL

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks are a highly-searched topic Tuesday. To show respect for the somber day, both President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney have taken down their negative political ads and will be avoiding political talk during public appearances.

President Obama will visit the Pentagon, a site targeted by one of the four planes hijacked by al-Qaida terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001. Obama also conducted a moment of silence alongside First Lady Michelle Obama on the White House lawn Tuesday morning.

Romney will address the National Guard in Reno, Nev., and Vice President Joe Biden will attend a memorial service in Shanksville, Penn., the site of another Sept. 11 plane crash.

Negative advertisements on behalf of both parties will temporarily be taken off the air for the day.

The Sept. 11 terrorist attacks killed nearly 3,000 U.S. citizens.

YouTube is trending upon released its own app for the iPhone.

For the first time, new iPhones will no longer feature a default YouTube app already built into the phone. Apple (AAPL) confirmed the newest version of its mobile operating system, iOS 6, would not feature a built-in YouTube app a month ago, after the two companies decided not to renew a five-year licensing agreement. YouTube released its own app Tuesday, one day ahead of the expected launch of the iPhone 5.

YouTube will now have more control over its app, including the ability to show videos with ads, which Apple had not allowed. The app is free to download in the App Store and available for phones running iOS 4.3 or newer.

GoDaddy is another popular search. The domain name registrar's Web site experienced outages on Monday, reportedly due to a hacking attack.

The GoDaddy attack reportedly affected millions of Web sites, though the company was not able to confirm whether thousands or millions were impacted. Customers complained that GoDaddy-hosted email accounts and GoDaddy phone service were also down.
