Gilead Reaches New 52-Week High (GILD)

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Gilead (Nasdaq:GILD) hit a new 52-week high Wednesday as it is currently trading at $58.99, above its previous 52-week high of $58.84 with 2.9 million shares traded as of 11:30 a.m. ET. Average volume has been 5.3 million shares over the past 30 days.

Gilead has a market cap of $43.65 billion and is part of the health care sector and drugs industry. Shares are up 40.9% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday.

Gilead Sciences, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, discovers, develops, and commercializes human therapeutics for the treatment of life threatening diseases worldwide. The company has a P/E ratio of 17.5, equal to the average drugs industry P/E ratio and below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
