On September 13, 2012, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab will host a Technology in the Classroom Town Hall event in partnership with Dell and co-produced by NBC News’ Education Nation and NBC Learn. Leading education thought leaders and policy makers, plus parents, teachers and students will gather to discuss technology’s influence in learning and how to cultivate new, innovative learning models.
The program will include two panels, “The Digital Divide: Equity and Access” and “How Technology Spurs Innovation in the Classroom.” The event will be moderated by NBC News Chief Education Correspondent Rehema Ellis with support from NBC News Special Correspondent Chelsea Clinton, as well as NBC Boston affiliate WHDH-TV Anchor Kim Khazei. Questions will be taken from in-person attendees and solicited from the online audience to stimulate discussion and debate today’s most important topics in education.

About the MIT Media Lab
The Media Lab is a place where the future is created, not just imagined. The Lab applies unorthodox research approaches for envisioning the impact of emerging technologies on everyday life--technologies that promise to fundamentally transform our most basic notions of human capabilities. Unconstrained by traditional disciplines, Lab designers, engineers, artists, and scientists work atelier-style, conducting more than 350 projects that range from digital approaches for treating neurological disorders, to new tools for learning, to innovative modes of transportation for sustainable cities. For more information on the Media Lab: http://www.media.mit.edu.About NBC Education Nation "Education Nation" seeks to create a thoughtful, well-informed dialogue with policymakers, thought-leaders, educators, parents and the public, in pursuit of the shared goal of providing every American with an opportunity to achieve the best education in the world. These discussions cover the challenges, potential solutions and innovations spanning the education landscape. By providing quality information to the public, NBC News hopes to educate Americans so they can make decisions about how best to improve our education system both in the near and long terms, and to shine a spotlight on one of the most urgent national issues of our time.
