LONG BEACH, Calif., Aug. 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UTi Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq:UTIW), a global supply chain services and solutions company, ranks among the top 10 third-party logistics (3PL) providers in the business, according to more than 8,000 readers of Inbound Logistics magazine. They selected UTi for the magazine's annual Top 100 3PL Excellence Awards, winning customer appreciation for reliability and responsiveness.
"We moved to seventh place up from tenth place last year, which shows that our continued commitment to consistently deliver quality service and competitive value to our clients' supply chains is recognized by the market," says President, Global Contract Logistics & Distribution, Ed Feitzinger. "This award is important to UTi because it publicly validates what our current customers already know–that UTi is a market leader in client-centric supply chain solutions."
Top 100 Selection Methodology
Inbound Logistics' Top 100 3PL Provider's list serves as a qualitative assessment of service providers the magazine believes are best equipped to meet and surpass readers' evolving outsourcing needs. Each year,
Inbound Logistics editors select the best logistics solutions providers by carefully evaluating submitted information, conducting personal interviews and online research, and comparing that data to readers' burgeoning global supply chain and logistics challenges. IL editors selected this year's class of Top 100 3PLs from a pool of more than 300 companies. The service providers selected are companies that, in the opinion of IL editors, offer the diverse operational capabilities and experience to meet readers' unique supply chain and logistics needs.
"One key driver in our selection process was how a logistics solutions provider enables value for its customers. In today's economic climate, 3PLs must produce direct savings for customers by optimizing transport networks, reducing inventory-to-sales ratios, or advancing the order- to-cash cycle," says Felecia Stratton, Editor, Inbound Logistics. "New ideas on the part of shippers, such as shared services, require that 3PLs establish relationships needed to create and share capacity and solutions. It is also important for logistics partners to act as business change agents, driving their customers' ability to match demand for their products more closely to supply, aligning enterprise operational performance to the larger economic trend. That is what UTi Worldwide does, and why we are happy to recognize it as a 2012 Top 100 3PL."
