NACD Provides Critical Training For Chemical Distribution In Indianapolis, IN

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Starting today over 300 conference attendees, members and affiliates of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) joined together in Indianapolis, Indiana for the Association's 24th Annual OPSEM Conference.  This long-standing event features critical information to help attendees manage complex regulatory and operational issues affecting chemical distribution.   An additional workshop, held earlier in the week, concentrated on Responsible Distribution, enhancing members' ability to implement and continuously improve their implementation techniques.

NACD's president Chris Jahn welcomed the conference attendees at the opening session by stating, "Keeping up with the changing demands of the markets AND understanding what new or changing regulatory compliance requirements takes resources and attention to detail. NACD is continuing to step up its resources available to you in support of your day-to-day efforts to comply with federal statutes and regulations."  He went on to highlight a variety of resources available through the Association's government affairs department to assist member companies in understanding what impacts their operations and further regulatory compliance tools.

Session highlights of OPSEM2012 include:

Regulatory Compliance and Strategy - A significant portion of the program was dedicated to regulatory compliance training.  Issues included an overview of regulatory initiatives and enforcement trends CSA2010 - A Year Later, the Global Harmonization System and more.

Customer Service and Strategic Sourcing - The opening session featured a presentation on 'Igniting your Employees Passion for Customer Service" by The Ritz-Carlton, highlighting their strategies and training systems to ensure exemplary customer service.  The next day attendees followed this up with a half day training on establishing and maintaining a strategic sourcing system to maximize their purchasing to contain costs, enhance customer/supplier relations and increase productivity.

Logistics and Warehouse Operations - Breakout sessions featured warehouse operations topics on segregation and co-mingling issues, the future of freight, issues impacting receiving and shipping of product and much more.

Process Improvement and Business Performance - Attendees also attended sessions on innovation and inspiring creativity to affect change and ultimately profitability.

Another highlight of the OPSEM opening ceremonies included an announcement of the 2012 Responsible Distribution Excellence Award nominees. Three NACD member companies have been nominated by a steering committee for the award including:  Lintech International; Mutchler Inc., Pharmaceutical Ingredients; and Tarr, LLC.  The winner will be selected and announced on November 29, 2012 at the Association's annual business meeting, in San Diego, California.
