U.S. Bank Delivered School Supplies To 800 San Diego Children In Military Families This Month

Military families in San Diego got a boost from U.S. Bank following a month-long donation drive for school supplies that resulted in enough supplies to get more than 800 children off to a good start in school this year.

Fourteen U.S. Bank employees distributed backpacks and school supplies on Saturday, Aug. 4, and Sunday, Aug. 5, at the National Guard Armory in National City. U.S. Bank held the drive in July at its San Diego branches as part of Operation Homefront’s Back to School Brigade. Employees collected 20 large bins of supplies and more than $500 in monetary donations.

“We are proud to partner with Operation Homefront,” said Steve Stuckey, president of U.S. Bank in San Diego. “We take pride in supporting members of our Armed Forces, and are honored to return the support by providing them with the kinds of opportunities they work to defend.”

Operation Homefront’s Back to School program helps alleviate the stress surrounding shopping for essential school supplies. Children received supplies at multiple distribution sites across all of San Diego where their families will be able to come together and network with other military families.

U.S. Bank has grown tremendously in San Diego for more than a decade, and today has 80 branches and more than 900 employees across the metropolitan area. The number of U.S. Bank employees in San Diego has nearly doubled since 2008.
