OfficeMax Honors Teachers During Back-to-School

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Aug. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- OfficeMax ® Incorporated (NYSE: OMX), a leader in office supplies, technology and services, announced today it is expanding on its rich history of honoring educators with special back-to-school teacher shopping days featuring teacher-only discounts and shopping rewards, and an in-store classroom supply drive at OfficeMax retail stores nationwide. To further support teachers, OfficeMax also today reaffirmed its annual pledge to donate $1 million worth of supplies across 1,000 in-need classrooms this fall.

The teacher savings events and donation pledge build upon OfficeMax's long-standing commitment to teachers and education. Last year OfficeMax and its customers joined forces to donate $4.6 million in much-needed classroom supplies to teachers and schools. Since 2007, A Day Made Better and other OfficeMax Goodworks programs have contributed more than $18 million in grants and supplies to support teachers and classrooms. Additionally, OfficeMax has helped its nonprofit partner Adopt-A-Classroom secure funding for more than 78,000 classrooms nationwide.

"Teachers help form the backbone of every community, and many are increasingly faced with challenges to make ends meet in the classroom due to budget shortfalls in local communities," said Carolynn Brooks, president of OfficeMax Charitable Foundation. "Our annual classroom supply donations, teacher saving events, and in-store supply drive are our way of helping to lighten teachers' financial burdens so they can stay focused on what they do best."

Big Back-to-School Deals for TeachersTeachers spend approximately $1,000 1 out of their own pockets each year on school supplies. To help reduce teachers' out-of-pocket expenses, through August 19 th OfficeMax invites teachers to its in-store Teacher Appreciation Days across the U.S. and Puerto Rico where they will receive a free tote bag 2 and the chance to stock up and save 25 percent 3 on hundreds of essential classroom supplies.

To participate in Teacher Appreciation Days, teachers can join the OfficeMax MaxPerks ® Rewards for Teachers program at no charge either in-store or at www.officemax.com/maxperks. OfficeMax MaxPerks Rewards for Teachers offers additional savings year-round, including a $10 reward for every $75 teachers spend on qualifying purchases – up to $100 each calendar year. Help Make A Day Better For Teachers and ClassroomsThroughout the back-to-school shopping season, stop in at OfficeMax stores nationwide and donate much-needed school supplies for local schools through the OfficeMax A Day Made Better in-store school supply drive.
