YUAN Selects Cypress’s EZ-USB® FX3™ Controller For World's First USB 3.0 Video Capture Box

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:CY) today announced that YUAN, a leading audio/video equipment manufacturer in Taiwan, has selected Cypress’s EZ-USB® FX3™ controller for its UB530 USB 3.0 high-definition (HD) video capture box. The UB530 stores video input from a variety of sources, including set-top boxes, media players, HD cameras and game consoles. Cypress’s FX3 solution provides a USB 3.0 device bridge to allow full HD data transfer and streaming at 5 Gbps.

EZ-USB FX3 is the industry’s only programmable USB 3.0 peripheral controller. It is equipped with a fully configurable General Programmable Interface (GPIF™ II), which can be programmed in 8-, 16- and 32-bit configurations with data rates as high as 400 Megabytes per second. GPIF II enables FX3 to interface directly to any processor, ASIC or FPGA. This high performance and flexibility was critical to enabling YUAN’s UB530 to interface with a wide range of data sources.
