It operates through three segments: Steel Mills, Steel Products, and Raw Materials. Nucor has a market cap of $12.18 billion and is part of the basic materials sector. The company has a P/E ratio of 15.9, equal to the average metals & mining industry P/E ratio and below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are down 2.9% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday. Currently there are nine analysts that rate Nucor a buy, one analyst rates it a sell, and five rate it a hold.

The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, good cash flow from operations and largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures.
