Twice a month, Barnes & Noble Spotlight picks an author of a popular or breakout series from various genres and offers one of their titles at a special price, helping NOOK ® readers discover new authors and dive into an exciting series for a wallet-friendly price. From July 14 through July 27, Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Bookstore will offer The Bad Beginning, for only 99 cents.
The Bad Beginning introduces readers to the recently orphaned Baudelaire children. Upon learning of their parents’ death, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are sent to live with Count Olaf, the first in a series of wretched guardians. These three siblings must band together to stop the villainous Count Olaf from carrying out his evil scheme to steal their fortune. Surprises await the Baudelaire orphans around every corner, resulting in a seemingly infinite series of unfortunate events. The Bad Beginning is the first of 13 novels in Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events that follows the misfortunes of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. Each book finds the children living with another unsuitable guardian as they try to escape Count Olaf and his devious circus troupe.
Lemony Snicket is the critically acclaimed young adult author of the Series of Unfortunate Events. This 13-novel series has been featured on The New York Times bestseller list for over 600 weeks. In 2004, Paramount Pictures turned the first three books into a hit movie starring Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep, and Jude Law. Lemony Snicket is currently working on a prequel four-book series to the Series of Unfortunate Events entitled All The Wrong Questions Series. The first book, Who Could That Be at This Hour? will be available on October 23, 2012.
Spotlight features titles from different genres including popular romance, young adult and fiction.
