Baku, Azerbaijan. The upgrade was required to comply with the country's Ministry of Communications' mandate for service providers to make mobile number portability available to subscribers this year. Bakcell is the first mobile operator and leading Internet provider in the country, and presently serves nearly 2.6 million customers.
The Number Portability solution was swiftly and economically deployed on PT's robust SEGway Signaling platform, a modular and scalable system that is already an integral element of Bakcell's mobile infrastructure. SEGway's carrier-grade IP backbone provides an ideal platform for seamless growth and the addition of revenue-generating features as networks evolve to next generation.
