(NYSE: SMP), an automotive replacement parts manufacturer and distributor, is saddened to announce the passing away of long-time director Robert M. Gerrity. Bob died peacefully at the age of 74 on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor after complications from heart surgery.

The Board will begin the process of searching for a successor and will make an announcement when a new director and a new Chairman of the Compensation and Management Development Committee are selected.
