PCTEL Showcases SeeGull® MX Scanner With New Layer 3 Decoding Capabilities At CommunicAsia

PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ:  PCTI), a leader in antenna and scanning receiver solutions, announced the release of the SeeGull ® MX scanning receiver supporting Layer 3 message reporting for UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA and GSM networks. With wireless operators rolling out and expanding 4G LTE networks, users will continue to rely on 2G and 3G networks for voice and fallback data coverage. As mobile devices move between network technologies, operators need to optimize GSM and WCDMA network settings to create a seamless customer experience. With neighbor lists and other Layer 3 information from the SeeGull MX, operators can configure their multi-technology networks to act as one.

The SeeGull MX now offers WCDMA and GSM Layer 3 reporting in addition to the previously-released TD-LTE Layer 3 capability. Layer 3 decoding on the SeeGull MX provides operators with reliable data on network settings to optimize neighbor lists, improve handovers, and manage network interoperability. SeeGull’s high-performance RF measurements help operators eliminate coverage holes and sources of interference, leading to a more efficient, reliable, and faster network. As a result, the SeeGull MX provides a comprehensive solution for operators to commission, troubleshoot and optimize their multi-technology mobile networks.

The SeeGull MX is fully compliant with 3GPP and 3GPP2 specifications and is currently available directly from PCTEL or through its OEM resellers.
