Alvarion ® Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALVR), a provider of optimized wireless broadband solutions addressing the connectivity, coverage and capacity challenges of public and private networks, today announced a new indoor Wi-Fi access point, the WBSn-2450-I for indoor carrier-grade Wi-Fi connectivity. This new access point is built with similar advanced Wi-Fi technology as the field-proven WBSn outdoor base stations, now enabling carriers and service providers to implement a powerful Wi-Fi solution indoors and outdoors.
With 80% of wireless users consuming large volumes of data indoors, operators are faced with the pressing need to improve indoor coverage. Alvarion’s indoor WBSn-2450-I access point is suited for large, crowded, indoor venues where data consumption on laptops, smartphones and tablets is in high demand. Operators can deliver the top range and capacity available while maintaining a high Quality of Experience (QoE) to users inside malls, hotels, airports, campuses, large retail stores and other public venues.
“This product is built specifically for our customers who need to keep up with indoor data challenges, while maintaining a high quality user experience,” stated Mr. Ulik Broida, Vice President of Products at Alvarion. “Our customers are looking for end-to-end coverage and high performance solutions. We were able to design this product with the same technological edge as our outdoor products which are widely used for hot zone projects worldwide. The WBSn-2450-I gives operators a high quality Wi-Fi access point that easily integrates with their core network, while expanding their service offering.”
The WBSn-2450-I is based on Alvarion’s two-way spatially adaptive Beamforming 802.11n, 3x3 MIMO with three spatial data streams and powerful support of 2.4 and 5 GHz radios allowing access to existing Wi-Fi devices as well as to new devices being released now with 5 GHz support such as Blackberry, iPads and new laptop models. WBSn-2450-I includes our interference immunity suite as in the field-proven outdoor WBSn models. Simultaneous radios allow operators the flexibility to use both frequency bands for customer access and the 5 GHz radio for backhauling the large amounts of data that cause network congestion.WBSn-2450-I is in-line with the Wi-Fi Passpoint™ program for seamless Wi-Fi access in hotspots and Wi-Fi roaming. The WBSn-2450-I includes a rich set of networking features for core integration into fixed and cellular networks, such as the RADIUS interface and the built-in Access Controller. This ensures that carriers and service providers are able to deploy their wireless networks quickly and effectively.
