LAFAYETTE, La., June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MidSouth Bancorp, Inc. ("MidSouth") (NYSE MKT: MSL) announced that it is doubling the size of its Baton Rouge presence by buying two new banking center locations. The purchase is subject to regulatory approval.

The banking centers are the former Hancock Bank branch at 2927 Sherwood Forest Blvd. and the former Whitney Bank branch at 6031 Jones Creek Road. MidSouth Bank's existing centers in Baton Rouge are at 6677 Siegen Lane and 6919 Corporate Blvd. (Towne Center).
MidSouth Bank plans to open the Sherwood location in September and the Jones Creek location in October. "These former Hancock and Whitney locations are a perfect distance from our two existing banking centers, allowing us to expand both our commercial and consumer reach in the Baton Rouge market," says MidSouth Bank Regional President Paul Judice. "The investment in these two locations will support our future growth in Baton Rouge and into surrounding parishes, while providing more convenience for our existing customers."
MidSouth Bank, which continues to seek expansion opportunities in the Baton Rouge market, also is in the process of constructing a new location at 800 Veterans Drive in Carencro. That banking center is expected to open in August. The three new centers will increase MidSouth's total number of locations in Louisiana and Texas to 43. About MidSouth Bancorp, Inc.
