NYSE Brings Big StartUp Small Business Resource Tour To Austin, TX

On June 16, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: NYX) will bring its “Small Business Connections: Marketing Meets Microfinancing” nationwide workshop tour to Austin, TX. Hosted in coordination with Big StartUp partners Yelp and Accion’s U.S. Network the event will provide approximately 80 local business people with access to two resources essential to growing a business in the tough economy: marketing know-how and access to capital.

During the free workshop, business outreach staff from Yelp will offer practical takeaways on working with major social media platforms and provide strategies for engaging with customers online and navigating the world of online reviews. In addition, lending experts from micro-and small business lender Accion Texas Inc., a member of the Accion U.S. Network, which has provided nearly 700 loans in the Austin area since 1999, will walk attendees through the benefits of developing a marketing strategy and how to finance marketing costs with an Accion microloan. Yelp business outreach staff and Accion loan consultants will be on-hand to field questions and offer one‐on‐one consultations to participants.

“Small Business Connections” is the first small business events component of the NYSE Big StartUp, a nationwide job creation and business growth initiative that connects small businesses with established corporations, such as Yelp. Launched in March of this year, the NYSE Big StartUp program also includes the Accion-NYSE Job Growth Fund started with a $1.5 million commitment by NYSE Euronext, which will provide small businesses and startups with the capital and support they need to grow.
