Emerson Announces New Business Leader Appointment

Emerson (NYSE: EMR) today announced the appointment of Mark J. Bulanda as executive vice president and business leader for Emerson Industrial Automation effective July 1, 2012. Bulanda had been president of the Control Techniques business within the Industrial Automation business.

Bulanda will succeed Jean-Paul Montupet, whose 31 years with Emerson included 17 years as Industrial Automation business leader. Montupet also is president of Emerson Europe. He will serve in a new role as chairman of the Industrial Automation business before retiring from Emerson at the end of 2012.

“Mark brings strong management skills, industry experience and professional leadership to this new role within Emerson. I’m confident he will continue to drive innovation and growth for Industrial Automation businesses and our leading brands and technologies,” said Emerson Chairman and CEO David N. Farr.

Farr praised Montupet for his many years of industry leadership and his many contributions to Emerson’s global growth.

“I have worked with Jean-Paul Montupet for more than 20 years at Emerson and his leadership, vision and charisma will continue to help us as Mark transitions in his new role,” said Farr. “Jean-Paul will leave a legacy of innovation and uncompromising commitment and has helped Emerson achieve remarkable success.”

Bulanda began his career with Emerson in 1985 as a co-op engineering student and held various sales and marketing positions within its businesses before becoming president of ventilation products at Emerson Motor Company in 1998. Two years later he was vice president and general manager in its commercial and industrial motors unit. Bulanda served as vice president of corporate planning for three and a half years and in October 2005 was named president of Emerson Climate Technologies’ White-Rodgers business. He has been president of Control Techniques since October 2009.

Bulanda received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the General Electric Institute, and holds a master’s in business administration from Northwestern University in Chicago.
