Recalls This Week: High Chairs, Dumbbells

Products being recalled this week include about 35,000 convertible high chairs that pose a falling risk for children and folding deck chairs that can't hold their specified weight. A line of defective dumbbells and gel packs are also being recalled.

Here's a closer look at the products:

CONVERTIBLE HIGH CHAIRS

DETAILS: Evenflo high chairs that convert from a high chair to toddler-size table and chair. The models being recalled include Dottie Lime with model number 29111259, Dottie Rose with model number 29111271, and Marianna with model number 29111234. They were sold at Toys R US and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. locations between December 2011 and June 2012.

WHY: The activity tray on the high chair can unexpectedly detach and allow an unrestrained child to fall.

INCIDENTS: 18 reports of trays detaching, including eight reports of children falling and sustaining bumps and bruises.

HOW MANY: About 35,000.

FOLDING DECK CHAIRS

DETAILS: West Marine deluxe deck chairs. The folding deck chairs have metal legs and light-colored wood armrests and model number 13110341 is printed on a coated paper tag attached to the chair frame. They were sold at West Marine stores, through catalog sales, and online from February 2012 to May 2012.

WHY: The chair cannot support the stated weight capacity.

INCIDENTS: Six incidents of the chairs collapsing under too much weight, but no reported injuries.

BOWFLEX DUMBBELLS

DETAILS: Bowflex SelectTech 1090 Dumbbells distributed by Nautilus Inc. The black steel dumbbells are sold in pairs and can have a weight capacity of 10 to 90 pounds. The word 'BOWFLEX' is written in grey along the top of each handle. A selector dial on each end of the cradle lists weights in red, starting at 10 and increasing in increments of five. The red Bowflex logo is at the center of the dial. This recall involves units with a date-of-manufacture code in the serial number in the range of 1111 through 1136. They were sold from May 2011 through August 2011.
