Romney Hits at Obama for High Hispanic Unemployment
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Mitt Romney highlighted Hispanic unemployment as it appeared the GOP nominee is attempting to narrow his unfavorable polling numbers.
Romney's campaign released a Web ad Tuesday that noted Hispanic unemployment is up since the president's inauguration and that unemployment among the group jumped to 11% from 10.3%.
The video comes about two weeks after an NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey found that Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, significantly trailed Obama among Hispanics at 27% to 61%.
Coupled with uninspiring support among Hispanics, Romney has also found himself reeling among female voters -- the current results between both groups would make it virtually impossible for Romney to defeat the president if he didn't narrow the gap before November. The Department of Labor shows that the current 11% Hispanic unemployment has risen from 9.9% in January 2009.
