University Of Phoenix Announces Scholarship Opportunities For Community College Transfer Students

University of Phoenix today announced that it will offer 70 scholarships to recent community college graduates looking to continue their education. Recipients of each $3,000 scholarship will have the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree program at a University of Phoenix location, or online via the University’s eCampus.

The seventy partial-tuition scholarships are available for qualified individuals who completed an associate’s degree from an accredited community college within the past three years, with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Recipients will be selected based on a completed application and submitted essays by the scholarship selection committee made up of representatives from University of Phoenix. Deadline for applications is June, 26, 2012.

“Community college students share much in common with University of Phoenix students and alumni: they are acquiring the skills to better compete in a global workforce,” said Tammie Yong, Director of Scholarships, University of Phoenix. “Some of our students best prepared to complete their degree programs are the ones who transfer from community colleges so we are especially passionate about providing these types of scholarship opportunities.”

In addition to offering scholarships, University of Phoenix works with community colleges to build educational partnerships that bring in area business, academic and diversity leaders. Through its Community College Center of Excellence, the University partners with community colleges to develop focused curriculum and specific career pathways to meet those area workforce skills gaps.
