Romney Ad Inaccurate About First Solar's Stock

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of First Solar (FSLR) have never reached $4.00, despite the assertions shown in a vague chart in the latest ad from Mitt Romney that attacks President Barack Obama.

Shares of the solar company were trading Tuesday at $14.49, up 16 cents, or 1.1%, which is above both a 52-week and all-time low of $13.21.

A bar chart in Mitt Romney's latest ad shows a red arrow pointing downwards at share prices of $7.00 and $4.00 as a narrator says, "their stock is near all-time lows."

The stock isn't far off the all-time low it reached last week, and it has sunk 90.7% since hitting a 52-week high last summer of $142.22 a share.

But a $4.00 price for First Solar would put shares of the company down 69.7% from the all-time low.

Romney's campaign has not returned a request for comment about the inaccurate chart.
